Online Booking Portal

Let clients book online while you stay in full control of your schedule

1. Enable your portal

Found in Settings → Booking Portal.

Go to Settings and scroll to the Booking Portal section. Check "Enable online booking portal". Your unique portal URL will appear — it looks like shearboard.com/book/your-business-name.

Copy this URL and share it anywhere — your website, Instagram bio, Google Business profile, or directly with clients via email or SMS.

2. Choose your booking mode

Shearboard offers two booking modes:

Request & Approve

The client submits a request with their preferred date and time. It lands in your schedule as Pending. You review it, decide if it fits your route or calendar, and confirm it. A confirmation email goes to the client automatically.

Best for: mobile groomers and anyone who needs to check routes or manage a fixed capacity before confirming.

Instant Booking

The client picks a date and time and is immediately confirmed — no approval step needed. A confirmation email goes to both the client and you right away.

Best for: salon-based groomers with a fixed schedule where you're happy for clients to self-book.

3. What clients see

When a client visits your portal URL they see a branded booking form with your business name and primary colour. They fill in:

  • The service they want
  • A preferred date and time
  • Their name, email, and phone
  • Their pet's name, type, and any special notes

After submitting, they see either a "You're booked!" confirmation (instant mode) or a "Request received — we'll be in touch shortly" message (request mode). A confirmation email is sent either way.

4. Handling booking requests

When a client requests an appointment you'll receive an email notification. The appointment also appears in your Schedule as Pending with a yellow status badge.

Open the appointment, review the details, and either:

  • Confirm it — status changes to Confirmed, client gets an email
  • Cancel it — add a cancellation reason; client is notified

5. Branding your portal

The portal shows your business name in the header and uses your chosen primary colour for the booking button. Update both in Settings → Business Profile. You can also add a logo URL there.
